The Daily WIre has just released the first trailer for Shut In, the conservative media company's first endeavor in launching original conent feature films. Vincent Gallo and actress and singer Rainey Qualley have paired up to tell the story of a woman's fight to protect her children from a dangerous ex-boyfriend. This will mark writer Melanie Toast's first feature and a return to film for Vincent Gallo.

The official synopsis reads, "When a young mother is barricaded inside a pantry by her violent ex-boyfriend, she must use ingenuity to protect her two small children from escalating danger while finding an escape." The Daily Wire announced the new feature via Twitter, captioning the post, "OFFICIAL TRAILER: Daily Wire's first original film SHUT IN COMING EARLY 2022 #ShutIn"

The response was notable, as fans of film and filmakers generally cheer or boo the content provided. However, the conversation turned political pretty quickly, Many were voicing their firearms stance with sentiments like, "I think it would be funny if somebody made this exact same movie, but the girl has a gun, and as soon as the guys break in, *BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG* and then the credits roll as you hear sirens approaching in the distance."

And, "Looks good! Whenever my husband and I watch movies like this, he starts talking about buying more guns. This is literally his nightmare scenario."

Many expressed their dismay that they could only see it with a Daily WIre subscription, saying, "Looks good. I will rent it if you release it somewhere mainstream. If it's only on DW subscription then I won't end up watching it."

And, "Looks amazing, but please actually release it and don't just make people subscribe to Daily Wire to watch it. I would buy this on Blu-Ray or Digital if you would release it on Vudu or any other service."

Some were very pleased to see their dollars would be going to a company with shared values, saying, "Looks real good, I'll be supporting ever movie release from Daily Wire. Too bad you f--ked me out of the children's book lol, how many did you guys print? 40?"

Shut In will be the media company's first original feature film after acquiring the North American distribution rights to the film Run Hide Fight, which premiered on their platform on January 14, 2021. The film stars Thomas Jane, Radha Mitchell, Eli Brown and Isabel May and concerns 17-year-old Zoe Hull who uses her wits, survival skills, and compassion to fight for her life, and those of her fellow classmates, against a group of live-streaming school shooters.

The Daily Wire recently made headlines with casting Gina Carano for the biopic, My Son Hunter, after the actress, sparked by her controversial social media posts, was dropped from Lucasfilm's The Madalorian. “Gina Carano is not currently employed by Lucasfilm and there are no plans for her to be in the future,” a Lucasfilm spokesperson said in a statement. “Nevertheless, her social media posts denigrating people based on their cultural and religious identities are abhorrent and unacceptable.”

Producer Phelim McAleer explained Carano's role in the film, saying, “She is a world-weary secret service agent present at most of the Biden family’s dodgy dealings. She provides a voice of truth and Sardonic comedy over the absurd dealings of the Biden family and various Chinese, Russian, and Ukrainian oligarchs. She is present throughout the film – commenting and sometimes narrating the absurd life and party lifestyle of Hunter Biden and the dodgy dealings of his father.”

Director D.J. Caruso helms Shut In and will be released exclusively on The Daily Wire platform.
