The episode will feature the main Futurama voice cast, including Katey Sagal, Billy West, John Di Maggio, Lauren Tom, Phil LaMarr, Tress MacNeille and Maurice LaMarche, in a story that is reminiscent of The Terminator.

When Bart (Nancy Cartwright) blows his nose on a sandwich that he places in a time capsule, it mixes with Milhouse's (Pamela Hayden) rabbit's foot and radioactive ooze that creates a worldwide catastrophe in the future. Bender is tasked with traveling back in time to kill Bart and prevent this crisis from ever happening.

Here's what series creator Matt Groening, who created both shows, had to say about "negotiating" with himself.

"That was a really tough one to negotiate, because I had to talk to myself."

The crossover, entitled "Simpsorama", pokes fun at both shows in the tagline, which reads, "a show out of ideas teams up with a show out of episodes."

Here's what showrunner Al Jean had to say about bringing both shows together.

"They were going off the air, so I thought people would really love it if we had one more chance to see those characters. We're always looking for things that are compatible with us, and I thought, 'Well, what's more compatible?' We do a joke, actually, about how similar Bender and Homer look. Like, they just erased Homer's hair.' There's a thing in Futurama code where if you solve it, it says, 'Congratulations! You're a nerd.'"
