Sinister director Scott Derrickson announced on his Twitter page today that Citadel director Ciaran Foy has signed on to direct Sinister 2. Scott Derrickson wrote the script with his Sinister co-writer C. Robert Cargill, with Jason Blum producing for Blumhouse.

We first reported on the sequel last March, when Scott Derrickson and C. Robert Cargill came aboard to write the script. No cast members have been announced at this time, and it isn't known when production will begin.

The original Sinister starred Ethan Hawke as a true crime writer who moves into a house where a vicious murder took place. He discovers a box of home movies from the previous family, which indicate that a nefarious supernatural presence is with him and his family at home. Sinister made $77 million worldwide from just a $3 million budget. Entertainment One is financing the sequel, with Brian Kavanaugh-Jones, Charles Layton, Xavier Marchand and Patrice Theroux executive producing.
