A young family finds themselves targeted by a demonic presence in the first trailer for Sinister 2, which is set to hit theaters nationwide August 21. While most of the cast members from the 2012 thriller Sinister are not back for the sequel, except for James Ransone as "Deputy So and So," this story follows a new family that is targeted by The Bughuul. Will this sequel be able to match the intensity of the original?

In the aftermath of the shocking events in Sinister, a protective mother (Shannyn Sossamon of Wayward Pines) and her 9-year-old twin sons (real-life twins Robert Sloan and Dartanian Sloan) find themselves in a rural house marked for death as the evil spirit of Bughuul continues to spread with frightening intensity. Scott Derrickson, who directed the original Sinister, wrote the script with his Sinister co-writer C. Robert Cargill. Ciaran Foy (Citadel) takes the helm for this thrilling follow-up that will surely terrify late-summer audiences in just a few months.

Jason Blum and Scott Derrickson are producing, with Charles Layton, Brian Kavanaugh-Jones, Xavier Marchand and Patrice Theroux executive producing. The original Sinister took in $82 million worldwide back in 2012. Do you think this follow-up has what it takes to surpass its predecessor?
