2007 marks the 40th anniversary of the legendary L.A. based rock band, The Doors. Legendary skateboarder and director, Stacy Peralta (Dogtown & Z-Boys), will be putting together a full-length documentary about the band. Variety reports the project will include previously unreleased footage and interviews with the parents and sister of the band's lead singer, Jim Morrison, who died in 1971.

Six Nights, Six Records, Six Years, will be directed by Oscar-winning documentary director Bill Guttentag (Twin Towers). The film is meant to be a social history overview as seen through the Doors' lives and music.

The three surviving members of the Doors are co-producing the documentary. The film is part of their effort to expose The Door's music to a new generation of fans. Between 1967 and 1971, The Doors made six studio albums with Jim Morrison. They have maintained their popularity over the past 40 years thanks to classic rock radio and Morrison's enduring iconic image.
