This year's season of Smallville is all about getting Clark closer to his final destiny of becoming the Superman we all know he will become, so it only makes sense that there are big changes in store for the show's cast. A recently uncovered spoiler from Entertainment Weekly's Mike Ausiello reveals one such change that waits for Allison Mack's Chloe Sullivan.

In the season's ninth episode, Chloe's will end up suffering some serious memory loss. Following this event, Clark is going to seek Jor-El's aid in restoring Chloe's memories. Or at least most of them. It turns out that the future Man of Steel decides that his best friend may be better off with forgetting some details...

Now, it doesn't outright say that Chloe will forget about Clark's abilities. But the implication is clearly there. And it would bring the mythology of Smallville more in line with DC Comics' Superman titles, where Chloe doesn't yet exist. But this move would, no doubt, come as a serious blow to the many fans that Chloe has gained during the run of the series.

Smallville airs Thursday nights on the CW. The drama about the early days of Clark Kent stars Tom Welling, Erica Durance, Allison Mack, Aaron Ashmore, Justin Hartley, Cassidy Freeman and Sam Witwer. Season Eight of the show begins September 18, 2008.
