Tom Welling, best known for playing a young Superman in the TV show Smallville, is set to star in an upcoming action thriller titled Deep Six. Scott Windhauser, who previously worked on the 2020 action film Death in Texas, will write and direct the new project. Per Deadline, production is expected to start in Rome in April.
A synopsis for the movie reads, "Terry (Welling) is released early from prison only to be forced to go undercover to take down the Cosa Nostra in Italy. On his first day, his fellow six-man undercover unit is taken out. Terry must then ride shotgun all day with a psychopath killer who may know he is working for the police." With the cat and mouse game between Welling's character and a killer, there will be a mix of action and tension.
Supporting cast members include Cam Gigandet (Without Remorse), Sidhartha Mallya (Brahman Naman), Cher Cosenza (Death in Texas), Al Linea (The Irishman) and Alessia Alciati. Emanuele Moretti of The Motus Studios will produce the motion picture. Cosenza has previously worked with the director in Death in Texas.
While discussing what it is like to work with Welling, Windhauser said, "I really lucked out to get to work with such a great actor like Tom. I think he is really going to open a lot of eyes with his role. He gets to go to toe-to-toe with Cam in a game of cat and mouse that the audience will love. I can’t wait to show the world this project.” He is excited to work with an actor with a high level of talent. Windhauser is also excited for the audience to experience his upcoming project. The director's previous works include Cops and Robbers, Dead Trigger, and the Hurricane Heist. His last film, Death in Texas, released in 2020, was also an action flick. Tom Welling Fans Still Recognize Him Well from Smallville
Most consumers will recognize Tom Welling for his role as a young Clark Kent/Superman on the Warner Bros. Television series Smallville. The show, named after the town where Kent grew up, lasted for ten seasons. From 2001 to 2006, the program aired on the WB Network. Later, the series aired on the CW. Years after the show ended, Welling returned to play the character Clark Kent in the Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover. He had given up his powers so he can be closer to the family he has with Lois Lane.
Another iconic role for the actor was in Warner Bros. Television's Lucifer. Welling played an L.A.P.D. lieutenant named Marcus Pierce. Both projects are based on characters that originated in DC Comics. Smallville revolves around Superman, arguably one of the greatest superheroes in fiction. Lucifer revolves around the DC version of the devil.
