The sneaker culture is a rabid and fascinating one, with many obsessive tennis shoe freaks coming together in the first trailer for Sneakerheadz. The film has received the Documentary Spotlight at SXSW, and will premiere there this year with four screenings starting on Monday, March 16. To check out the full schedule: CLICK HERE

Sneakerheadz sets out to ask one of the most challenging questions facing any shoe collector: To Rock or Stock? Sneakerheads will do almost anything to get their hands on a unique pair of kicks, going to such extreme lengths as hiding in trash cans to score a pair of Retro Jordan 11s to camping for days in sub zero temperatures for the latest Nike Foamposites. How did sneakers become as prized as collectable art? From the shares of Cali to the congested streets of Tokyo, Sneakerheadz examines the cultural influence of sneaker collecting around the world and delves into a subculture whose proud members don't just want to admire art, they want to wear it.

Directed and produced by Academy Award nominated producer David T. Friendly (Little Miss Sunshine) and award-winning music and video producer Mick Partridge, the feature documentary explores the growing phenomenon of "sneaking collecting and showcasing," featuring cultural icons such as Rob Dyrdek, Samantha Ronson, Mike Epps, and Wale.
