Our Soju Army is going back twenty years into the Past to track the top box office draws from the summer of 1986. Each new commentary will match the number one film of the week on the exact day of its release. How is this possible? Simple, Mantooth and Orange managed to create a time machine out of a Coleman's Beer Cooler (fueled by tasty hops, no less). So, grab one of the handles and holler as these kids trip back through film history...
With their Time Cooler on the fritz, B. Alan and Mantooth camp out at the Ol' Spooky Mantooth Estate Circa 1986. In a scenario reminiscent of this month's The Lake House, they use the near-by mailbox in a means to contact themselves. Things don't work out quite as they'd planned when a giant rodent appears bearing Mantooth's DNA and one very "dire" story about the future of MANKIND! It seems that re-watching The Karate Kid Part 2 has set the apocalypse directly into play. Running time is 121 minutes. Date on the Cooler is set at June 20th, 1986 where "Karate Kid 2" drew in $12,652,336 at the box office to become the number 1 film of the week, beating out newcomer "Legal Eagles" and second week hold over Back to School.
