During Comic-Con 2013, Warner Bros. announced that Son of Batman and Batman: Assault on Arkham will be released in 2014 to celebrate Batman's 75th Anniversary. Now, the studio has unveiled the first trailer for Son of Batman, which will arrive sometime this spring on Blu-ray and DVD. The story follows Batman (voiced by Jason O'Mara) as he learns he has a violent teenage son named Damian (voiced by Stuart Allan), who was secretly raised by the terrorist group League of Assassins. Watch the first footage, then read on for more details about the story and voice cast members, along with the first photo of Batman and Damien.
Fans will also get a sneak peek of the animated adventure on the Blu-ray and DVD release of Justice League: War, which debuts on February 4.
The movie is based on a 2006 comic book entitled Batman and Son, created by Grant Morrison and Andy Kubert that centers on the son Batman/Bruce Wayne had with Talia al Ghul (voiced by Morena Baccarin), and his attempts to reconnect with his child. Other confirmed voice cast members include Giancarlo Esposito as League of Assassins leader Ra's al Ghul, David McCallum as Bruce Wayne's faithful butler Alfred Pennyworth, Xander Berkeley as Dirk Langstrom (a.k.a. Man-Bat) and Thomas Gibson as the villainous assassin Deathstroke.
Son of Batman will have its world premiere at WonderCon 2014 in Anaheim, California, which runs from April 18 to April 20, with the Blu-ray and DVD release to follow after the premiere at an unspecified date.
