An awesome retro Sonic the Hedgehog poster had been revealed for Brazil's CCXP. The new poster comes after a successful redesign launch for the upcoming movie. It was looking pretty grim for the video game movie when the first trailer debuted. Video game fans were very vocal about their disappointment in the iconic hedgehog's original design, which led Paramount to go back to the drawing board. Now, Sonic is back and he looks a lot more like he does in the video games and fans are a lot more excited to see the movie now.

The CCXP poster for Sonic the Hedgehog features Jim Carrey's Dr. Robotnik in the background, drawn to look more like the video game version of the villain. Sonic is running beneath him on ground that looks like the first installment from the video game series. It's a cool nod to the character's roots and should make a lot of fans happy, especially those of whom were upset over the first version of Sonic for the big screen.

Sonic the Hedgehog focuses on the anthropomorphic blue hedgehog from another world, as he comes to Earth. Sonic arrives on our planet to escape villains who are seeking to harness his power of super-speed. After accidentally causing a massive power outage while hiding out in the town of Green Hills, Montana, he is targeted by the government and they hire the malevolent roboticist Dr. Robotnik to hunt him down. Meanwhile, ex-SFPD officer-turned-Green Hills sheriff Tom Wachowski, meets Sonic and must help him evade capture, collect his rings, and stop Dr. Robotnik from using Sonic's powers for world domination. From the trailers, Jim Carrey seems to have been the best choice to take on the villain role.

Sony Pictures announced development of Sonic the Hedgehog back in 2013 with a big screen adaptation announcement coming the following year. However, the studio was not able to pull everything together and the project sat on the shelf for years. Then, in 2017, Paramount took over the rights and revealed their plans to finally bring Sonic to the big screen. The new studio quickly developed the movie and followed through with their intentions, though the first design of the character was not at all what video game fans had in mind.

While the Sonic the Hedgehog movie redesign is much better now, fans are left wondering if the movie will be able to escape the video game curse. Basing a movie on an iconic game franchise is nothing new, but it has proven to be extremely difficult to pull off. There have been some exceptions over the years, but it is still rare. For now, Paramount's marketing department has been doing a great job promoting the new version of Sonic the Hedgehog with some teases of the past. The CCXP poster was originally found on Reddit.
