FX has just handed out a preemptive Season 6 order for the hit drama series Sons of Anarchy, while also signing series creator Kurt Sutter to a new three-year overall deal. We reported back in October that FX renewed Sons of Anarchy for Season 5.

It is also being reported that, while nothing is official yet, Kurt Sutter is planning on ending Sons of Anarchy after its seventh season. Here's what Kurt Sutter had to say about ending Sons of Anarchy after seven seasons.

"There's a part of me that does see being able to tell this story in seven seasons, but there's a part of me that doesn't want to say, 'That's it.' I almost feel like when you hang that kind of finality and put a period on something, there's almost a backlash that happens with the fan base. If there's more story to be told after seven seasons and if financially it's still a feasible endeavor, I'm definitely open to doing more."

Sons of Anarchy had its most successful season yet with Season 4, averaging a whopping 8.4 million viewers per episode. The Season 4 finale also posted a 22% gain over the Season 3 finale.
