Sony has picked up rights to Ben Mezrich's forthcoming book "Sex on the Moon: The Amazing Story Behind the Most Audacious Heist in History," according to Variety.

The Social Network was based on Ben Mezrich's "The Accidental Billionaires," whose producers Scott Rudin, Michael DeLuca and Dana Brunetti will return to produce Sex on the Moon.

The Social Network, about a young aspiring scientist (Thad Roberts) who thumbed his nose at authority by planning to steal moon rocks from his NASA employer -- all for the affection of his girlfriend.

"Sex on the Moon: The Amazing Story Behind the Most Audacious Heist in History," is set to hit bookshelves on July 12.
