Sony Pictures is getting back into German feature production, according to Variety. with the acquisition of Tommy Jaud's bestselling second novel, "Resturlaub."
The novel, about a German brewery manager who moves across the world to start a life in Argentina, has already sold more than 600,000 copies here and became a red-hot property following the success of "Vollidiot," his first novel.
Tobi Baumann's bigscreen adaptation of Vollidiot, which starred TV star Oliver Pocher, has become the most successful film of the year for producer-distributor Senator Entertainment.
Jaud, who has also worked as a TV comedy writer, will write the script, with production set to start next year for a 2009 release.
