According to Variety, Sony Pictures Classics has snapped up the U.S. and Latin American rights to Jean-Pierre Jeunet's Micmacs for $1 million.

The comedy stars the popular French actor Dany Boon (Welcome to the Sticks). Other actors include Dominique Pinon, Andre Dussollier and Yolande Moreau.

The screenplay was penned by Jeunet and Guillaume Laurant. It follows a person who works in a videostore. He has has "a bullet lodged in his brain" and, with some help, hopes to rid the world of a weapons manufacturer.

The film was initially a Warner Bros. France co-production. However when Warner Independent Pictures folded, Micmacs became available. It will premiere in Toronto on Sept. 15.
