Sony Pictures Television has bought the rights to John Updike's most recent novel, Terrorist to potentially be developed into an original movie for Lifetime Television and Von Zerneck/Sertner Films.

Producers are in the process of finding a writer to adapt the novel. The Hollywood Reporter describes the book as a story of a young boy being raised by a single mother who regularly attends a mosque to get in touch with the roots of his absent Egyptian father. When his mother and a concerned teacher start to detect clues that he is being pulled into a terrorist plan, they race against time to keep him from being a part of plot to blow up New York's Lincoln Tunnel.

No production schedule has been set for Terrorist.
