A new trailer has been released for the anticipated second season of Space Force. Following a new branch of the United States Armed Forces that focuses on space exploration, the series first premiered on Netflix in 2020. It was renewed for season 2 later that year, and in February, new episodes finally make their way to Netflix. You can check out the new trailer for Space Force season 2 below.

The logline for season 2 of Space Force reads: "Season 2 of Space Force picks up with General Naird and his underdog team having to prove their worth to a new administration while dealing with interpersonal challenges. Will the group come together or fall apart under the pressure...? Space Force is only human after all."

Greg Daniels and Norm Hiscock serve as co showrunners on Space Force. Daniels and Hiscock also executive produce with Steve Carell, Howard Klein, Brent Forrester, and Ken Kwapis. The second season brings back returning regulars Steve Carell, John Malkovich, Ben Schwartz, Tawny Newsome, Diana Silvers, Jimmy O. Yang, and Don Lake. Tim Meadows is also prominently featured as a guest star in the new season.

Space Force Will Have a Different Tone in Season 2

“There was a sort of a postmortem period where he and I sat down and we said what was working, how do we change things to improve the experience? I think we didn't have that many of the same writers. We had a few same writers, but we got a bunch of new writers, and I think he kind of wanted to show the writer's room what he was going for in terms of tone, so he took the first one,” Greg Daniels told Collider, speaking on the new creative direction they'll be taking in season 2.

“Well, I think the big picture is that we are concentrating on the gags more. It is more about the comedy scenes between the cast," Daniels added. "I think the stories are more personal and they're interesting, but I don't think the point of the show so much is like a highly arced thing, you know what I mean? It's kind of like each episode is a fun adventure with this cast and there's a loose structure to it. I guess the big structure this year is that with the new administration, the Space Force is much more underdogs because people are super skeptical of them in the new administration.”

He goes on to tease: "I'll say that one of the ways that we refocused the show on the cast was that we explored a lot of the ways that the main serious regular cast could interact with each other... Now I think more of the stories are the various cast members relating to other cast members, so you can kind of handle it in a shorter period of time."

Space Force will premiere its second season on Feb. 18, 2022. For now, you can stream the entire first season on Netflix.
