It seems that one of the earliest video games could be heading to the silver screen. The Los Angeles Times is reporting that Warner Bros. is in talks to acquire the feature film rights to the game Space Invaders.

The studio is currently in negotiations with the Japanese company Taito, who originally manufactured the game, and it was said that Mark Gordon, Jason Blum and Guymon Casady would come aboard to produce if a deal was made.

The game first came out in arcades in 1978 and later reached a new level of popularity when it was released on the Atari 2600 home console. Since the game featured no real storyline, it wasn't clear how the film storyline would unfold.
