No specs announced, but with Criterion's reputation these should all be great releases. First off are two from Ermanno Olmi, Il Posto and Il Fidanzati, then Rainer Werner Fassbinder's Ali: Fear Eats the Soul, and finally two from Alain Resnais, Hiroshima Mon Amour and Night and Fog, an incredibly unsettling, yet magnificent documentary about the holocaust. Night and Fog was shot in 1955, at the post-war site of Auschwitz, and the haunting footage of that area, coupled with black and white newsreels incorporated throughout the film, creates one of the most vivid and frightening accounts of inhumanity ever depicted in motion pictures. A true must see in the documentary genre. Each is due to hit stores on June 24th.
