Fandango announced that new ticketing records were broken by Spider-Man 3, which enjoyed a projected $148 million domestic opening weekend at the box office. Spider-Man 3 now ranks as Fandango's daily ticket-sales record-holder. The previous daily record-holder was Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest, followed by Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, then Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith.

Spider-Man 3 is making history across the board:

-- On Friday, May 4, Spider-Man 3 broke Fandango's daily sales record and hourly sales record (May 4, 4:00-5:00 pm PT), selling ten tickets per second over multiple hours;

-- Opening day sales for Spider-Man 3 were by far the biggest of 2007 so far, surpassing the opening day sales for box office hits 300, Wild Hogs and Ghost Rider combined;

-- Spider-Man 3 represents 97 percent of all weekly ticket sales on Fandango (as of Sunday 9:00 am PT).

"It's a harbinger of a terrific summer at the movies," says Ted Hong, VP Marketing for Fandango, "Spider-Man 3's advance ticket sales have been nothing short of sensational, and as of Sunday morning, ticket sales are still going strong. We are pleased that millions of moviegoers are taking advantage of the ease of Fandango to avoid 'sold out' signs at the theaters this weekend."
