Will the real Mary Jane Watson please stand up? Ever since Zendaya was cast in Spider-Man: Homecoming, fans have speculated that she is playing Mary Jane, love of Peter Parker's life. The first movie did nothing to confirm that, aside from giving her characters the initials MJ. From the looks of the Spider-Man: Far from Home trailers, she's still not fully out as Ms. Watson, but Zendaya has died her hair red, and has started quoting Mary Jane on Instagram. So of course fans are in a frenzy about it.

Zendaya Coleman debuted her new red look during a photocall in London for Spider-Man: Far from Home, where she was spotted alongside co-stars Jake Gyllenhaal and Tom Holland. She shared an image of herself on Instagram, taking it all a step too far for some obsessives who definitely don't think she should be playing Mary Jane, as she cryptically quoted an iconic Marvel comic book.

"Face it, Tiger.."

Yup, that sounds like our classic MJ. In the movie, Zendaya's full name is Michelle Jones. It wasn't until the end of Spider-Man: Homecoming that Michelle lets Peter in on her little secret. Her friends call her MJ. And it was a clever way for Sony and Marvel to have their Mary Jane cake and eat it too. Spider-Man: Far from Home is just weeks away from release, arriving for the 4th of July holiday. Will there be more to MJ than meets the eye this time around?

We know from the barrage of TV spots for the MCU sequel that MJ knows Peter Parker's biggest secret. That he is New York's friendly neighborhood Spider-Man. The first time around, Michelle and Peter were not romantically linked. But it looks like they'll be hooking up here, in what we suspect is 5 years later. We don't know if MJ survived the Decimation at the end of Infinity War, or if she had disappeared along with Peter after the snap. But if the impending couple is facing a 5 year age gap, that could make for some interesting drama. We suspect that Flash Thompson did survive, and is now 5 years older than his peers. So what is he doing on this trip? Perhaps he is an adult guardian. Again, there is a lot of humor to mine from this time gap.

The trailers for Spider-Man: Far From Home certainly make it look like Peter and MJ are going to become an item. So will she officially become the Mary Jane stand-in, replacing Kristen Dunst, who played the character in the original Sam Raimi movies, and was later portrayed by Shailene Woodley in Amazing Spider-Man 2 only to be cut out of that sequel after much fan outcrying over the fact that they felt Woodley wasn't pretty enough to play the iconic Marvel character? Fans have also voiced their concern about Zendaya playing the role, believing she doesn't fit the bill either.

'Face it, Tiger...You just hit the jackpot.' Is the classic line Mary Jane says to Peter Parker in the comics when they first meet. So Zendaya is definitely playing with that idea. While some fans can't stand the idea of Zendaya playing the real MJ, others are completely on board with it.

Peter Parker and MJ will have a lot of time to grow closer as people as they set off for a fun European vacation in Spider-Man: Far From Home. But things don't go as planned when Nick Fury shows up, recruiting Spider-Man to work alongside Mysterio in stopping giant Elemental monsters terrorizing the countryside. So will Peter and MJ be an item when all the dust clears? Are they our next Tony and Pepper? We only have a few more days to get through until we officially learn the truth. The first look at Zendaya with her Mary Jane Look came direct from The Official Zendaya Instagram account.
