Spider-Man: No Way Home broke the box-office at the end of 2021 and paved the way for this year’s Marvel slate of movies. Now the film is returning to cinemas with a new extended version, Spider-Man: No Way Home – The More Fun Stuff Version. While there has been reportedly 11 minutes of unseen footage in the new release, which will help the movie add to its $1.9 billion haul, there will also be a new post-credits scene in the movie that will help look towards the future of Tom Holland’s web-slinger.
Spider-Man: No Way Home has been the one movie of Marvel’s Phase 4 that did not disappoint in anyway, with rave reviews from critics and audiences alike and that mighty box office to boot. There is no doubt that the biggest reason for this was the inclusion of former Spider-Man stars Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire, as well as the return of some old fan-favorite villains including Green Goblin, Doc Ock and Electro, played by fellow returnees Willem Dafoe, Alfred Molina and Jamie Fox respectively. Now the new version of the film promises more footage of all of these characters and more, including that post credits scene.
The original release of the movie featured the first trailer for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness as its final post-credits scene. Of course now, that trailer is pretty irrelevant, so the nice people at Marvel Studios have included an all new scene to add the icing on the cake, which follows the mid-credits scene featuring Tom Hardy’s Venom.
What Is In Spider-Man: No Way Home’s New Post Credits Scene?
Marvel Studios have two types of post-credits scenes, those that add to the future of the franchise and those that are just there for a bit of fun. Spider-Man: No Way Home already featured one of the former type, as the mid-credits scene sees Tom Hardy’s Eddie Brock in a bar in the MCU timeline, from which he is sucked back to his own world but leaves behind a small piece of Venom.
So although this could make the new post-credit scene just there for laughs, like Spider-Man: Far From Home the new scene directly connects to the end of the movie and sets up answers to some of the big questions fans have about the future of Spider-Man. This all comes as a worthy reason for the film’s re-release, and with the box office having struggled in the last couple of weeks there is a strong possibility that Spider-Man: No Way Home could be back at the top of the charts once again. Whether the footfall will be enough to push the film beyond the $2 billion milestone is yet to be seen, but it will certainly not be a surprise to see that happen.
