America Chavez is making her official debut in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, played by Xochitl Gomez, alongside Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange. Her first look from the teaser of the film has received praise from the audience and seems her role in the film would be of high significance. However, the latest concept art image has revealed that she could’ve made her debut appearance in Spider-Man: No Way Home along with her Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange.

The concept art image shows Gomez’s America Chavez at the center of a bumper car ride area in an amusement park, along with the film’s lead cast including Tom Holland, Zendaya, and Jacob Batalon along with Toni Revolori’s Flash Thompson and Angourie Rice’s Betty Brant. The image shows Gomez probably creating her star-shaped portal.

America Chavez is also known for traversing the multiverse and can open portals to multi-dimensional realities. So, she could’ve had played an important role in No Way Home’s many character appearances from across the multiverse, especially in the case of Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield’s return to form a live-action Spiderverse. But, probably Marvel Studios didn’t want another superhero with time-traveling abilities in its biggest cross-dimensional outing. And it could’ve hampered her potentially bigger and more powerful debut in the Doctor Strange sequel.

America Chavez comes from Utopian Parallel, a reality where time and presence have no meaning. She has superhuman strength, the ability to fly, and can travel across realities through star-shaped portals. How her origin will differ in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is unknown and it would be interesting to see how she finds herself between Doctor Strange’s conflict with the newly unleashed darkness from the multiverse.

Currently, all details of her role in the film are under wraps and probably the next trailer will reveal something. Gomez was asked of her foray into the Marvel Cinematic Universe during the red carpet event of the premiere of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. Gomez said,

Well, I can't say too much – especially since Kevin [Feige] is like right there; But what I can say is that I'm very excited for the movie [Doctor Strange 2] to come out, and I'm just really excited for people to see my work on screen. I mean I really put so much work into it and I'm really, really, so proud of it. And I'm just excited for it to come out. I'm just excited to be here, number one! And I'm such a fan of Marvel in general so being here is just like... I'm just shaking being here and being invited, ah!

We all are equally excited to see Gomez taking on the role of the teenage superheroine, who would join the next generation of MCU superheroes along with Florence Pugh’s Yelena Belova, Hailee Steinfield’s Kate Bishop, Simu Liu’s Shang-Chi, and Iman Vellani’s Ms. Marvel.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will release on May 6, 2022, and will star Benedict Cumberbatch, Rachel McAdams, Elizabeth Olsen, Benedict Wong, Chiwetel Ejiofor, & Xochitl Gomez.
