Much like death and taxes, the only other inevitability in life seems to be ongoing rumors surrounding the upcoming Marvel sequel Spider-Man: No Way Home and this latest one is sure to have fans excited. Potential SPOILERS to follow. The latest rumor claims that Tom Hardy’s Eddie Brock AKA Venom will indeed feature in the movie, with the character appearing in a post-credits sequence that picks up following the surprising finale of Sony’s Venom: Let There Be Carnage.

For context, Venom: Let There Be Carnage finds Eddie Brock struggling to adjust to life as the host of the alien symbiote Venom, while serial killer Cletus Kasady escapes from prison after becoming the host of Carnage, a chaotic spawn of Venom. Having battled and beaten Carnage, Eddie and Venom continue their wonderfully warped romance by deciding to go on vacation where, in a mid-credits scene, Venom informs Brock of the symbiotes' knowledge of other universes, transporting them from their hotel room into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, where they watch J. Jonah Jameson reveal Spider-Man's identity as Peter Parker on television.

This latest Spider-Man: No Way Home rumor comes courtesy of notable leaker RPK News, who has gotten things absolutely right in the past and goes on to reveal that the post-credits sequence will feature Eddie Brock and Venom being sent back to their own universe following their shocking multiversal trip at the end of Venom: Let There Be Carnage. However, when leaving the MCU, Eddie will accidentally leave a trace of the symbiote behind, thus allowing for Venom to feature in more MCU outings.

While far, far from being a confirmation, the idea of Venom beginning to make an impression in the MCU is clearly on the agenda, with Venom star Tom Hardy recently spotted wearing a Spider-Man: No Way Home production hat while doing the press rounds for Sony sequel, Venom: Let There Be Carnage, as well as outlining his hopes for bringing his extra-terrestrial antihero into the Marvel fray. "Yeah, it's really hard because for me and the guys in the Venom-verse, we came together under Sony and that's who we work for, that's who we run with, that's our team, you know?” Hardy explained. “And obviously we just look at it as creatives and say, 'Look at all of these things we could play with.'”

Hardy continued, believing that they would be remiss not to bring Venom and Spider-Man together, "Once it's established, we then have to continue our Venom-verse. But at the same time, we will always be looking to campaign to play with that with all the brothers and sisters who are out there, do you know what I mean? Whether we can connect the dots, that's up to the constellations, and that's above my pay grade, but we would be remiss not to think about that when we're working on the material."

Spider-Man: No Way Home meanwhile will of course further explore the multiverse, bringing all manner of villains from prior franchises into the MCU, and thus adding weight to the idea that Venom and Spider-Man will be put on a collision course come the movie’s end. Spider-Man: No Way Home is scheduled to be released in the United States on December 17, 2021, as part of Phase Four of the MCU. This comes to us from RPK News.
