Perhaps Tom Holland called upon a WWE legend to help him take on the interdimensional supervillains in Spider-Man No Way Home. Just recently, the second trailer for the anticipated sequel was released. It mostly showcases the villains coming in from the alternate Spider-Man and The Amazing Spider-Man movie universes without actually revealing Tobey Maguire or Andrew Garfield.

The other Spider-Men may not be in the new No Way Home trailer, but many fans still believe that they were digitally removed from the footage. Various pieces of evidence support this theory, with perhaps the most obvious moment coming when the Lizard is whacked in the face by an invisible assailant in mid-air. Someone must have been taken out of the scene in that spot, leading to theories that it must be Maguire or Garfield.

Over on Instagram, digital artist Samuel Cheve has a different theory. The artist posted an image of The Suicide Squad star and WWE mainstay John Cena wearing Andrew Garfield's Spider-Man outfit. Behind him reads the blunt confession, "Yes, I punched the Lizard." This is a clear reference to Cena's WWE slogan, "You can't see me," which has become a new trend on the internet with memes and jokes constantly referring to Cena as legitimately invisible.

Anyone could theoretically show up in this movie by way of the multiverse, but if you're going to bet any money, you should probably go with Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire showing up in this scene. The two have long been heavily rumored to arrive in Spider-Man: No Way Home to make best use of the live-action spider-verse, as it seems like a waste to bring in the supervillains without their respective heroes. Nothing is guaranteed, but it definitely seems most probable that the actors will be back in their Spider-Suits for the movie.

As for John Cena, he probably won't really be suiting up as a live-action Spider-Man anytime soon, but he's still open to joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe. We recently saw him step into the DCEU as Peacemaker for James Gunn's The Suicide Squad, a role he reprises in an upcoming spinoff series for HBO Max. In response to fans suggesting him for the role of the Thing in Marvel's Fantastic Four reboot, Cena teased that he'd be up for that role.

"I would consider most any-thing," Cena told Esquire when asked about the fan casting. "I think keeping yourself open to options and different perspectives is a good way to go about life. This would simply be a thing that I would consider, because I like to keep my perspective open to new things."

Peacemaker will be hitting HBO Max in January 2022. James Gunn has teased that more seasons of that show could also be made if it's well-received, so Cena could be keeping busy in the DCEU for some time to come. It still seems inevitable he'll get to the MCU at some point or another. Meanwhile, Spider-Man: No Way Home will be released in theaters on Dec. 17, 2021, which is when we'll learn the true identity of the invisible man.
