Things didn't work out so well for Fantastic Four last time the movie was rebooted, but Marvel fans feel much better about its direction this time around. Previously announced as the final installment of Phase Four of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Fantastic Four will reimagine the superhero foursome once again with all-new actors in the roles. Jon Watts, who helmed Spider-Man: No Way Home along with Homecoming and Far from Home, is directing the new Fantastic Four as well.

"Since seeing the MCU Spidey trilogy conclude with No Way Home, I think it’s safe to say that The Fantastic Four is in good hands," one viewer tweeted.

"I've seen Spider-Man: No Way Home twice now and I laughed, cried and of course cheered in ALL the same places," another tweet reads. "I am now 100% convinced that when the Fantastic Four come home - characters I care about just as much as Spidey, they'll be in safe and capable hands with Jon Watts."

"I think we need to take a minute to recognise Jon Watts," says someone else. "The man got booed out of the room when he was announced for Fantastic Four. I’m not sure there are many who can’t see what he brings to take table coming out of No Way Home. Dude can direct."

Another fan ponders, "The real question is, who will be directing the new Spider-Man trilogy? Jon Watts is headed to start work on Fantastic Four now that No Way Home is done. Which I’m so much excited for after what he did with Spider-Man: No Way Home."

In 2005, the first live-action Fantastic Four movie was released. It starred Ioan Gruffudd, Jessica Alba, Chris Evans, Michael Chiklis, Julian McMahon, and Kerry Washington. It was a hit at the box office, prompting the sequel, Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, to release in 2007. Josh Trank stepped in to reboot the superhero team in 2015 with the Fantastic Four reboot, but it was a box office bomb and pulled in overly negative reviews, canceling plans to develop any sequels.

Last year, it was announced by Kevin Feige that Jon Watts would direct the next Fantastic Four movie. The feature will not acknowledge the previous movies by presenting new actors in the roles. Because the last reboot had infamously tanked, many Marvel fans were apprehensive about another Fantastic Four movie entering development, but not it seems like most of those fears have been eased. Casting information has yet to be announced but fans are already feeling confident with the creative direction.

Spider-Man: No Way Home, which is impressing critics and audiences alike on Rotten Tomatoes, is now playing in movie theaters everywhere. If you haven't seen the movie yet and you're still trying to avoid spoilers, you best get in there sooner rather than later. Meanwhile, it's going to be a while before the new Fantastic Four reboot is released, as it won't be any earlier than the summer of 2023 as the final movie of the MCU's Phase Four.
