Recently premiering in theaters, Spider-Man: No Way Home brought with it plenty of big surprises. One character return, in particular, has been getting a lot of attention, and Tom Holland himself has weighed in. If you wish to avoid Spider-Man: No Way Home SPOILERS then please, look away now.

Spider-Man: No Way Home lead Tom Holland has at last opened up about one of the many surprise cameos featured in the epic MCU outing. Namely, the return of Netflix’s Daredevil star Charlie Cox, who appears in the movie as alter ego Matt Murdock to help Holland’s Peter Parker out of a legal jam. In a discussion with Marvel.com, Holland described working with Cox as “tho,” and loved teaming up with another superhero in a more down-to-earth style scene.

"We had so much fun working with Charlie. It's really interesting doing a scene between two Super Heroes that has no real Super Hero stuff in it. Apart from the bit when he catches the brick. It was awesome."

While the scene does not include MJ, Zendaya revealed that she had been present on set to watch events unfold adding, "I didn't get to be there....I was there for the behind-the-scenes watching you guys. But I didn't get to be in it." Holland clearly loved the opportunity to work with the Daredevil star concluding, "But it was great. I loved working with Charlie."

There have been rumors surrounding Charlie Cox’s role in Spider-Man: No Way Home for some time now, with the cameo in question featuring Cox sharing the screen with Holland’s Peter Parker, as well as Aunt May and Happy Hogan. Holland had teased Cox’s triumphant return in the past, and while he played coy, many guessed that it would include Matt Murdock. "It's four people sitting at a table, having a conversation about what it's like to be a superhero, and it was amazing," Holland said. "The other day we watched the scene, my brother and I, and our jaws were on the floor." No doubt many audience members had the same reaction.

Like so many other stars of Spider-Man: No Way Home, Charlie Cox has denied his involvement multiple times over the past several months. "I hadn't heard those rumors, but it's certainly not with my Daredevil. I'm not involved in it," Cox said of his rumored involvement back in September. "If that's true, it's not with me. It's with another actor. As a fan of the Marvel movies, I've loved the little stuff where they pop up here and there but because we were on Netflix, we weren't able to do as much for legal reasons, I don't know why. But I love the idea of Jessica and Matt showing up in the background or Matt as a lawyer advising Peter Parker. That'd be really, really cool." It’s likely that no one will ever believe another word he says.

Charlie Cox’s comeback also gives weight to other Daredevil-related rumors that have been floating around, including the recent leak which allegedly reveals a casting grid confirming that a Marvel Daredevil project is indeed now in early development.

Spider-Man: No Way Home finds Peter Parker asking Doctor Strange to help make his identity as Spider-Man a secret following its public revelation, which leads to the multiverse being unleashed, and was released on December 17, 2021.
