Be warned, SPOILERS for Spider-Man: No Way Home to follow...

Well, there we have it, the Marvel multiverse has finally cracked open on the big screen, unleashing all manner of madness as the various elements from multiple Spider-Man franchises converge, confirming that each one of them, from the Sam Raimi and the Marc Webb iterations, are technically canon. This opens up all kinds of possibilities going forward, with one talented fan imagining a meeting between Andrew Garfield’s Peter Parker and a Spider-Gwen version of Emma Stone’s Gwen Stacy.

The wonderful artwork was created by Spider-Man fan carpaa2011, who said alongside the image: “I thought it would be fun to imagine what Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield would be like together as Spider-Gwen and Spider-Man Will we ever get to see it?” Putting Emma Stone’s Gwen Stacy in a very comic book accurate Spider-Gwen costume, sending either Andrew Garfield’s or Emma Stone’s respective web-slinger on a live-action adventure across the multiverse and back into each other's arms is an endearing prospect indeed.

First appearing together in 2012’s The Amazing Spider-Man, the palpable chemistry between Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone was one of the major highlights in the divisive outing and no doubt bringing the couple together again would be something that audiences would utterly love to see play out. Thanks to Spider-Man: No Way Home, a movie involving these versions of Spider-Man and Spider-Gwen is now more possible than ever...

Until then, Spider-Gwen will return to the big screen in animated form in the upcoming sequel Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. Centering once again on Miles Morales, the highly anticipated follow-up will hurl audiences back into the multiverse for the next chapter of the Oscar-winning Spider-Verse saga. The epic adventure will transport Brooklyn's full-time, friendly neighborhood Spider-Man across the Spider-Verse to join forces with Gwen Stacy and a new team of Spider-People to face off with a villain more powerful than anything they have ever encountered.

Produced by Columbia Pictures and Sony Pictures Animation in association with Marvel, and distributed by Sony Pictures Releasing, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (Part One) is set to be directed by Joaquim Dos Santos, Kemp Powers, and Justin K. Thompson from a screenplay by David Callaham, Phil Lord, and Christopher Miller. Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (Part One) is scheduled to be released on October 7, 2022, having been delayed from an initial April 2022 date due to the ongoing global situation.

Spider-Man: No Way Home meanwhile has been breaking records left and right. The movie has now set several box office records, including records for movies released during the current circumstances, grossing $638 million worldwide and becoming the sixth highest-grossing movie of 2021. Directed by Jon Watts and starring Tom Holland, Zendaya, Benedict Cumberbatch, Jacob Batalon, Jon Favreau, Marisa Tomei, Benedict Wong, Alfred Molina, Jamie Foxx, and Willem Dafoe, Spider-Man: No Way Home sees Peter Parker turn to his colleague Doctor Strange for help after his secret identity was exposed at the end of Spider-Man: Far From Home. Unfortunately, things quickly go awry, and Spider-Man is faced with multiple villains from across the multiverse.
