Spider-Man has the most impressive rogues' gallery of all Marvel superheroes. Two decades of Spider-Man movies featured amazing Marvel super-villains such as Mysterio and the Vulture. Five villains from Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield's eras of Spider-Man were united in the Marvel Cinematic Universe during Spider-Man: No Way Home. By the end of the film, the villains were returned to their home universes but left a lasting impression on both the current Spider-Man and the audience. Tom Holland's Peter Parker realized that the life of a superhero comes at a great cost. Unfortunately for Parker, he has certainly not met the last of the villains he will face as Spider-Man.

Sony and Marvel Studios have already started development on a fourth Tom Holland-led Spider-Man movie. While many Spider-Man villains such as Mac Gargan (Scorpion) and Herman Schultz (Shocker) have been established in the MCU for potential future appearances, there are still many villains that have yet to be introduced. These villains wouldn't necessarily even have to face Spider-Man, but could become enemies of other superheroes in the MCU. Kingpin (Wilson Fisk), for example, is a Spider-Man villain that antagonized Daredevil and Kate Bishop in non-Spider-Man related series set in the MCU. Here are a few of the Spider-Man villains we would love to see appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

5 Mister Negative

Mister Negative was the secondary antagonist of the massively beloved Marvel's Spider-Man (2018) video game. He is the alter-ego of philanthropist Martin Li, who began F.E.A.S.T. to help the homeless in New York City. F.E.A.S.T. has already been introduced in the MCU when May attempts to help Norman Osborn in Spider-Man: No Way Home. Unfortunately for Spider-Man, Martin Li has a dark side. In the 2018 Spider-Man game, it is revealed that Norman Osborn indirectly caused Li to murder his own parents. Li was consumed with rage and became Mister Negative, joining the super villain group known as the Sinister Six. To date, Mister Negative has not yet been featured in a Spider-Man film. However, due to his role in one of the most popular Spider-Man projects of the modern era, he has become very well-known. The internal struggle within Martin Li and interactions with Spider-Man would be interesting to explore in the MCU.

4 The Black Cat

Felicia Hardy's relationship with Spider-Man in the comics was a complicated one. While not exactly a super villain, Hardy was a manipulative person and a criminal. Black Cat was a very interesting Spider-Man character because she shifts from the role of enemy to love interest to antihero. The enemies of Spider-Man in Spider-Man movies have always been portrayed as human beings that struggle and make morally questionable choices. Black Cat could be the next character to join that list. Now that Peter Parker has parted ways with MJ and decided to keep his distance to keep her safe, he may eventually consider other romantic options. What's more, Black Cat has already engaged herself in a dangerous life before she met Spider-Man. Felicity Jones, who played Jyn Erso in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, played Felicia in The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Due to the franchise's cancellation, Marvel fans never got to see the Black Cat realized on-screen. Hopefully, Sony and Marvel Studios will soon introduce the great Spider-Man character in the MCU.

3 Morlun

Marvel

Morlun was a central villain for all alternate versions of Spider-Man in the comics. He was a psychic vampire known as the "Devourer of Totems," traveling across the multiverse to hunt the Spider-Totems. Morlun was the main villain of the Spider-Verse comics, leading his family on a mission to kill every version of Spider-Man. As a vampire, Morlun aligns in style with the world of Morbius and Marvel Studios' Blade. Morbius is an enemy of Spider-Man and also a vampire like Morlun, while Mahershala Ali's Blade is a half-vampire vampire hunter.

In the Spider-Man: The Other comics arc, Morlun temporarily killed the main Spider-Man. A great villain makes things difficult for the hero, and Morlun has proved he excels at that. Fans loved seeing Peter Parker's life fall apart in Tom Holland's third Spider-Man movie. What better way to continue to make Peter's life difficult than to introduce Morlun after Spider-Man: No Way Home? The MCU has leaned heavily into the fantastical and the concept of the Multiverse, most evident in the upcoming Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. As such, Morlun is an ideal Spider-Man villain to use for the direction of both Sony's Spider-Man universe and the MCU.

2 Kraven the Hunter

Spider-Man: Far From Home Director Wants Kraven the Hunter as Spider-Man 3 Villain
Marvel Comics

Spider-Man: No Way Home writers Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers told TheWrap that they "don't think there's been a draft of any of the Spider-Man movies where Kraven the Hunter [wasn't the villain]." Sony teased a future appearance of Kraven the Hunter with the end credits in 2014's The Amazing Spider-Man 2. In an interview with Collider, Tom Holland revealed that Kraven was originally supposed to be the villain of Spider-Man: No Way Home. We didn't end up seeing Kraven in either Andrew Garfield or Tom Holland's Spider-Man movies, but we will be seeing Kraven the Hunter in Sony's Spider-Man Universe (the same universe as Morbius and the Venom movies).

Because Kraven is making his debut in a universe that currently does not have a Spider-Man, he will have to enter the MCU through access to Marvel's multiverse. Kraven the Hunter was a villain in the comics that always challenged Spider-Man, and he was, frankly, one of the best Spider-Man villains of all time. Spider-Man fans deserve to see the heroic web-slinger and Kraven the Hunter face-off in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

1 Hobgoblinhobgoblin-amazing-spider-man-250-cover-marvel-comics

Green Goblin in Spider-Man: No Way Home was overwhelmingly well-received by fans, and it's hard to think of an actor that could give a greater performance than Willem Dafoe. So, perhaps the solution is not to replace the Raimiverse Goblin with an MCU version, but bring a completely new Goblin into the MCU. There has been several Hobgoblins in the comics, but the most prominent one was Roderick Kingsley. Kingsley was a malevolent power-hungry person who acquired the Green Goblin's suit and equipment. Unlike Norman Osborn, Kingsley did not become insane by altering the Goblin formula.

In the comics, Ned Leeds was brainwashed by Kingsley and became a version of the Hobgoblin. With the MCU's Ned Leeds no longer remembering Peter, there is an opportunity to use that to push Leeds into a villainous role (even if only temporarily). It would make for great drama as Peter experiences conflict fighting a best friend that does not even remember him. Spider-Man: No Way Home may have already even teased the dark twist with Ned saying, "Peter, I promise you, I won't turn into a super villain and try to kill you." But as Andrew Garfield's Peter says at the end ofThe Amazing Spider-Man, the best promises are the ones you can't keep. In this case, Ned wouldn't even be aware he made that promise in the first place.
