What starts with one of the most vicious rapes in cinematic history ends with the bad guys getting the gory comeuppance they each deserve. You might want to put the kids to sleep before diving into this one.

The series is full of unexpected turns and horrifying twists, such as a newborn baby that ages quickly and dies and ghostly apparitions. Its full of ooze and slim, and is one of the best times you'll have sitting in front of your television screen this October. Oh, did I mention that it's surprisingly gory for a broadcast TV show? You will definitely want to cover your eyes.

They are soon forced to quarantine themselves and make the necessary sacrifices, or risk infecting the rest of the world. You definitely won't want to participate in any fall-timed science field trips after experiencing the horrors locked in this chilly thriller.

Who needs candy on Halloween when you have mountains of human flesh to chew through? If you are looking for some good ol' fashion scares on a dirty low budget, then Offspring is the gruesome, gory treat you've been searching for. In this meaty side helping of spare limbs, we find a group of survivors who've escaped a feral flesh-eating clan. Consumed by the hunger, these ghastly ghouls are now chowing their way through the unaffected locals. Amy Halbard and Claire Carey are a sexy young paire striving to survive their abduction by these mindless cannibal freaks and save their children. There's also an awesome subplot involving Claire's despicable husband, Steven, which gives the filmmakers an excellent opportunity to cleverly compare our predatory civilized appetites to the appetite-driven primitives. This is one Halloween treat you'll definitely want to watch while scarffing down all those free sweets you've just purloined from the neighborhood.

How could we make it through Halloween without a chilling tale of gruesome gore from the maestro Clive Barker? John Harrison directs this film, which is based on one of Clive's short stories from the Book of Blood. When psychic researcher Mary Florescu hires a whack job medium named Simon McNeal to investigate a supposed haunted house, the duo get more than they bargained for. After McNeal fakes seeing visions, real ghosts come up from the floorboards for his soul.

The ghoulish haints carve cruel words in his flesh, and these words make up the stories found in the real, literal Book of Blood that now sits in every Barnes and Noble across this great country of our. It is truly spooky stuff.

After finding success with his very scary films House Of 1000 Corpses and The Devil's Rejects, not to mention two Halloween remakes, Rob Zombie dived head first into the world of animation with this awesome ode to the scary world of 60s comic books. Starring an amazing cast of voice talent which includes Paul Giamatti, Rosario Dawson, and Sheri Moon Zombie, Haunted World of El Superbeasto follows the adventures of a washed-up luchadore who's made it his mission to fight the evil supernatural forces currently wrecking havoc on all our lives. As the heroic El Superbeasto heads into his final confrontation with the elusive Dr. Satan, each of his new adventures becomes more surreal and terrifying than the last. If you dig super crazy cartoons, you won't want to miss this one.

Well, don't think about it any more, as every question you ever had is answered in this new live action Scooby-Doo mystery. True Scooby fans are in for quite a wild ride, and it's sure to work over a few new converts.

The third film in Sam Raimi's The Evil Dead trilogy gets a beautiful new digital transfer with this umpteenth release of the cult favorite. Horror icon Bruce Campbell once again dons the chainsaw hand to portray the legendary horror hero Ash. Having been transported back to medieval times, our dashing doofus must battle an army of skeletons to return the dreaded Necronomicon Ex-Mortis (the Book of the Dead) to its rightful place. Not only is the film full of gory jump scares and bloody bouts of fisticuffs, Raimi also ladles on the slapstick to create a heaping helping of his signature style. While many different versions of this film have been released, it has never looked this gorgeous before.

Directed by Tom Shankland, The Children is one of the most frightening installments in the "evil child" subgenre of horror to ever find its way onto Blu-ray. Our very scary tale unfolds in contemporary England during a late and snowy December, with a young married couple journeying into the country to spend New Year's with their immediate family. Accompanying the adults are three children. Upon arriving at their destination, ominous and increasingly bizarre events begin to transpire. While one child grows visibly ill, the others begin slipping into menacing and threatening behavior toward everyone, capped off by an ugly accident that they engineer which involves one of the most gruesome acts of carnage ever committed by a child in a horror film. Soon, it's discovered that the children are infected with a bizarre, zombie-like virus that is systematically spreading to the other children. The adults must protect themselves, and might just have to kill their precious Children to survive the night. Be careful when watching this one. You definitely won't want to answer the door for Trick or Treaters after witnessing the horrors locked deep in this awful horror experience.

Called the scariest movie in over a decade, this gruesome little treat reveals the true heart beating behind motherhood. Jordan Ladd stars as Madeline, an expecting mom whose baby dies in the womb. She soon discovers that something is wrong with her little girl Grace. Yes, the child is hungry for blood! In one of the most shocking neo-thrillers ever produced, Madeline is forced to make a series of dreadful sacrifices to keep Grace happy. This one is not for the squeamish. If you can't handle the horror, you just might want to leave this brutal sucker off your Halloween horror list. You wussy.

Considered by some to be the best in the series, Final Destination 2 redefined how truly horrible death could be. In this swarthy follow-up to the original hit film, director David Ellis took the concept of death stalking teenagers and turned it on the rest of the populace. Featuring one of the greatest line-ups of slasher victims ever to grace the silver screen, no demographic was turned away when it came to complete and utter decimation. Heck, even a mother and her ten year old son aren't safe in this thrill-a-minute sequel that is as blood soaked as any film ever made. With a series of inventive kills and truly intense moments, Final Destination 2 looks even better on Blu-ray. If you can only afford to take one Final Destination trip this Halloween, you better make it this one.

Henry Selick, director of the beloved Halloween classic The Nightmare Before Christmas, returns to the spirit of the season with his latest stop-motion classic. Based on Neil Gaiman's book of the same name, Selick creates a fantastical new universe that turns quite spooky when Coraline escapes into The Other World, a place where all her dreams seem to come true only to quickly turn into nightmares. Utilizing the same stylized look that has made Selick a master in his field, this unsettling fairy tale offers up all sorts of crazy creatures and horrifying sites. While at first glance this may look like a kid's movie, its really a grown up morality tale that's as scary as anything else released this year. And it looks absolutely stunning on Blu-ray. Henry Selick's Coraline is nothing short of a masterpiece.

New master of terror Peter Cornwell delves into the sorted true-life tale of a family that moved into a converted funeral home only to fall under one of the most horrific supernatural attacks ever documented. This spooky yarn follows the quest of a desperate mother to free her family from the grip of an evil beyond human comprehension. She has just moved to Connecticut, where her youngest son, Matt experiences a series of disturbing events that lead him to believe a malevolent force is attempting to take control of his parents. Back when the home was still a funeral parlor, the original owner's clairvoyant assistant, Jonah, served as a gateway for restless spirits seeking to cross over into the physical realm. While not as gory as some of the other movies out there, Cornwell offers some great scares, creating one of this year's wiliest ghost stories while also establishing himself as a horror director to watch in the future.

Kathryn Bigelow's crazy cult classic about vampires in the American Southwest is finally coming to Blu-ray this Halloween season. Her creatures of the night aren't elegant, cloaked aristocrats. They're a gun-toting pack of dissidents that dress and act like a motorcycle gang. When Caleb (Adrian Pasdar), a restless young man from a small farm town, meets an alluring drifter named Mae (Jenny Wright), she reveals herself to be a vampire. She decides that she'd rather turn Caleb into one of her kind rather than kill him. But the rest of her "family" is slow to accept the newcomer. Full of edge of your seat excitement and burned up glorious bits of gore; this film has never looked so beautiful. Near Dark is for the true horror cinephile that is looking for something slightly askew of the norm this fall.

David S. Goyer wrote and directed this supernatural thriller about a 19-year-old girl (Odette Yustman) haunted by a "dybbuk" (a malevolent wandering soul of Jewish folklore) that was once a young boy ruthlessly slaughtered in Auschwitz. Casey Beldon (Yustman) was just a young girl when her mother vanished out of her life. And though Casey has never forgiven her mother for abandoning their family, she begins to understand why when a tortured ghost begins stalking her by day, and horrific nightmares make her scared of falling asleep at night. Hoping that her spiritual advisor, Rabbi Sendak (Gary Oldman), possesses the power to make these awful visions stop, Casey enlists his aid and gradually uncovers a family curse that stretches all the way back to Nazi Germany. With some of the scariest looking creatures committed to celluloid this year, you'll be jumping like a crack addict at the site of these horrific images. Unborn is so scary, you won't be able to keep your candy down.
