Clueless actress and former Fox News commentator Stacey Dash has filed paperwork to run for United States Congress in California's 44th district. The Federal Election Commission paperwork also declares the creation of a new committee under the name "Dash to D.C." The 44th district is located in Southern California and is made up of a portion of south Los Angeles from South Gate down through Compton/Watts area and north Long Beach. The district is currently represented by Democrat Nanette Barragán. The 44th district used to go down as far south as Orange County and San Clemente but changed to a smaller region during 2003 to 2013.

Stacey Dash is best known for her role as Dionne Davenport from the Clueless movie as well as the short-lived television show of the same name. Dash was 28-years old at the time and is now either 51 or 52, depending on the source. Since then, she has become an outspoken Republican and was hired by Fox News in 2014 to be a contributor for "cultural analysis and commentary." Stacey Dash spoke out against President Barack Obama and was famously suspended from Fox news for 2 weeks without pay for suggesting that Obama didn't "give a sh!t about Islamic terrorism."

In 2016, the Clueless actress received criticism when she stated that the BET Awards lied to black people about news regarding the boycotting of the Academy Awards due to lack of ethnic diversity and then said that the BET Network should go away entirely. Stacey Dash then called for the end to Black History Month and made a cameo at the 88th Academy Awards repeating the comment as well as making the comment yet again on Fox and Friends. On January 21, 2017, Fox News announced that Dash's contract would not be renewed.

The 44th district of California predominately votes Democrat and over 80 percent of the area voted for Hilary Clinton instead of Donald Trump in the 2016 presidential election. Current congresswoman Nanette Barragán was a part of Barack Obama's reelection campaign in 2012 and was the first Latina to serve on the Hermosa Beach City Council, so Stacey Dash has some pretty stiff competition. Not only that, the 44th district of California has had a Democrat in congress continuously from 2012.

Stacey Dash has been hinting at a new career in politics on social media over the last several months, even going as far as asking her followers for their opinions. However, the plan seems to have backfired on her a bit since the majority of the comments are a resounding "no," or various memes of somebody saying, "no" over and over. Stranger things have happened, but as for now it doesn't look good for Stacey Dash's political career.
