Can't get enough of Keir Gilchrist after his harrowing performance in the horror hit It Follows? Want to see what Tye Sheridan is capable of before he takes over the role of Cyclops in X-Men: Apocalypse? Then boy, do we have a thrilling trailer for you! The two actors have teamed up for IFC's haunting The Stanford Prison Experiment, and judging from this first look footage, you don't want to miss this summer departure from the blockbusters currently crowding the multiplex.

What happens when a college psych study goes shockingly wrong? Based on the notorious true storyThe Stanford Prison Experiment follows Billy Crudup as Stanford University professor Dr. Philip Zimbardo, who, in 1971, cast 24 student volunteers as prisoners and guards in a simulated jail to examine the source of abusive behavior in the prison system. The results astonished the world, as participants went from middle-class undergrads to drunk-with-power sadists and submissive victims in just a few days.

From director Kyle Patrick Alvarez, The Stanford Prison Experiment will hit theaters in very limited release starting July 17. But if you don't live in one of the cities participating in the debut, not to worry, it will arrive on VOD the following Friday, July 24. The film was created with the close participation of Dr. Zimbardo himself, ensuring its accuracy. Take a look, and hold on. This is going to get a little scary!
