Back in /first-draft-of-star-trek-3-script-has-been-completed/mid-August, writer/director Roberto Orci announced that the first draft of Star Trek 3, which he is is overseeing with writers Patrick McKay and J.D. Payne, had been completed. Now, Zachary Quinto has come forward to reveal that the sci-fi franchise sequel will begin shooting sometime in the next six months, with a likely spring start date being planned.

Zachary Quinto recently appeared on NBC's Today show, where he was asked about Star Trek 3. No big revelations were revealed, but he did say this:

"I think it's on the horizon. Things are rumbling, so I have a feeling that we will be back in production sometime in the next six months."

While no official plot details have been released just yet, it is believed that Roberto Orci is planning to take the Enterprise crew into Deep Space as their 5 year mission begins.

Paramount has announced a 2016 release date for Star Trek 3, and if Zachary Quinto is correct, they should hit that intended slot, perhaps in the summer but maybe in the fall, sometime near Thanksgiving.
