Earlier this week, the final trailer for Star Trek Beyond debuted, which included portions of Rihanna's new song "Sledgehammer," which will be part of Star Trek Beyond's official soundtrack. While the full soundtrack won't be available until July 29, a week after Star Trek Beyond hits theaters on July 22, the full music video for "Sledgehammer" was released today. We saw on the "Sledgehammer" single cover art that Rihanna is featured with a full Star Trek costume on, and we see the singer sporting a new look in this unique music video.

While we don't know exactly what Rhianna is dressed up as in this music video, which debuted on YouTube, we have previously reported that there will be over 50 different alien species in this sequel. This music video also features the USS Enterprise NCC-1701, and is the first music video in history to be entirely filmed using IMAX cameras. Floria Sigismondi directed th music video, using the ALEXA IMAX camera, which was used for the intense battle sequence in Marvel's Captain America: Civil War.

Star Trek Beyond, the highly anticipated next installment in the globally popular Star Trek franchise, created by Gene Roddenberry and reintroduced by J.J. Abrams in 2009, returns with director Justin Lin (The Fast and the Furious franchise) at the helm of this epic voyage of the U.S.S. Enterprise and her intrepid crew. In Beyond, the Enterprise crew explores the furthest reaches of uncharted space, where they encounter a mysterious new enemy who puts them and everything the Federation stands for to the test.

Opening July 22, 2016 from Paramount Pictures and Skydance, Star Trek Beyond is a Bad Robot, Sneaky Shark, Perfect Storm Entertainment production. The film stars John Cho, Simon Pegg, Chris Pine as Captain Kirk, Zachary Quinto as Spock, Zoë Saldana, Karl Urban, Anton Yelchin and Idris Elba. Directed by Justin Lin, the third film in the franchise series is produced by J.J. Abrams, Roberto Orci, Lindsey Weber, and Lin; and executive produced by Jeffrey Chernov, David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, and Tommy Harper. Based upon the Star Trek TV series created by Gene Roddenberry, the screenplay is written by Pegg & Doug Jung.

Earlier this month, the Star Trek franchise was rocked by the tragic death of actor Anton Yelchin, who has portrayed Chekov in 2009's Star Trek, 2013's Star Trek Into Darkness and this summer's Star Trek Beyond. With less than a month until this sci-fi sequel hits theaters, going up against the thriller Lights Out, it remains to be seen on the studio and franchise as a whole plans on honoring the late franchise star. While we wait for more details, take a look at the official music video for Rihanna's "Sledgehammer" below.
