We have already seen two trailers for the highly-anticipated Star Wars: The Force Awakens, which largely focuses on the new characters being introduced, although we have also gotten a few brief glimpses at some familiar faces such as Han Solo (Harrison Ford) and Chebacca (Peter Mayhew). One of the returning characters we haven't seen yet, though is C-3PO, but today we have new merchandise photos that offer our first look at the popular protocol droid, who is seen sporting a new red arm. Of course, it isn't known what happened that lead him to getting a new arm, but these merchandise photos also feature R2D2 and the new ball droid BB-8.

Of course, in the previous Star Wars movies, C-3PO was always in need of upgrades of some sort, but this is the first time we've seen him with some sort of misplaced part. The character has been confirmed for quite some time as being part of the story, but we have no clue about how large his role may be, or how he fits into the story thus far. It also isn't known how both C-3PO and his longtime companion R2D2 will react to the arrival of the ball droid BB-8, or what role he may have in this new sci-fi adventure.

It isn't known where these merchandise photos actually came from, or when they will be available for purchase, but we'll surely find out more as we get closer to Star Wars: The Force Awakens' impending release on December 18. What do you think about this new merchandise? Will you be picking up these items when they become available? Check out the photos below, and stay tuned for more on Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
