Even after the release of two trailers, much of the Star Wars: The Force Awakens plot and characters still remain shrouded in mystery. Disney and LucasFilm have been revealing little tidbits of information over the past few months, and today we finally learn who Andy Serkis is playing, a character known as Supreme Leader Snoke. We don't know what this character looks like yet, but LucasFilm has released a new photo of Andy Serkis in his motion capture outfit.

When the first trailer was released back in late November, it was revealed shortly thereafter that it was Andy Serkis' voice providing the narration for the trailer, but we still have very little context about how what he was actually saying fits into the story. Last month, a leaked character list revealed that Andy Serkis' character name was Uber, but that report also noted that it was likely a code name. Sadly, we don't have any more confirmed information about Supreme Leader Snoke, but there was also a rumor floating around last year that Andy Serkis is actually playing two characters, one who leads, "a group of unbelievably athletic and acrobatic motion capture characters," and another role that is said to be pivotal, which intertwines with Daisy Ridley's Rey.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens is set 30 years after the events of Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi, following a new group of heroes plus plenty of fan favorite characters from the original Star Wars saga. J.J. Abrams is directing from a script he co-wrote with Lawrence Kasdan, with a cast that also includes John Boyega, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Domhnall Gleeson, Lupita Nyong'o and Max von Sydow, along with returning franchise stars Carrie Fisher, Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill.
