The first Star Wars: The Force Awakens clip has arrived. And it's short at just 16 seconds long. It is an expanded look at a scene we've seen in trailers and TV spots. And it gives us an idea about what's at stake for Daisy Ridley's Rey and John Boyega's Finn. They are on the run, trying to escape First Order forces on the desert planet of Jakku. They decided to make their escape by stealing a ship, with Rey explaining that she's a pilot. But before they can reach the cockpit...Well, you'll just have to watch the clip for yourself.

The first Star Wars: The Force Awakens clip arrived during the America Music Awards, which aired on Disney owned network ABC last night. We also got another new TV spot which doesn't really have any new footage. Over the weekend, Disney XD ran another behind-the-scenes preview in the UK, which gives us our first real look at Lupita Nyong'o's Maz Kanata. The video is not the best quality. We also have an international TV spot, and an alternate cut of the Nien Nunb TV spot that ran yesterday. This version shows BB-8 rolling around inside of the Millennium Falcon, only this time, he has extender cables that catch his fall. It's a moment that, if you blink, you will miss it!

The Star Wars galaxy is a dangerous place. Epic Battles. Remote worlds. Strange creatures. And deadly threats at each turn. A long time ago a group of heroes banded together to save the galaxy from an Evil Empire. A dark new threat promises to destroy everything they've fought for. Now it's time for a new generation of heroes. Rey, a scavenger searching for answers. And Finn, a rogue Stormtrooper looking for something to fight for. They team up with a mysterious droid named BB-8. These three must make a choice. Continue their journey alone. Or work together to defeat the dark side.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens is in theaters in less than a month, arriving December 18, 2015. The movie is set 30 years after the events of Return of the Jedi, and features a new generation of swashbuckling heroes and shadowy villains, as well as the return of fan-favorite smugglers, princesses, and Jedi. Star Wars: The Force Awakens has raked in a staggering $50 million in advanced ticket sales, which is twice as much as the previous record holder, 2012's The Dark Knight Rises. There are still 27 days left until Star Wars: The Force Awakens hits theaters on December 18, so it wouldn't be surprising if that $50 million tally keeps growing and growing. Sources claim that nearly a third of the $50 million pre-sales figure comes from IMAX theaters alone. With box office records already being broken, many wonder if Star Wars: The Force Awakens can break even more during opening weekend.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens will introduce three new heroes into the Star Wars universe, John Boyega's Finn, Daisy Ridley's Rey and Oscar Isaac's Poe Dameron, along with Adam Driver's villainous Kylo Ren. Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker), Harrison Ford (Han Solo) and Carrie Fisher are also reprising their iconic roles from the original trilogy, although very little is known about their characters. The Star Wars: The Force Awakens supporting cast includes Domhnall Gleeson as General Hux, Lupita Nyong'o as Maz Kanata, Gwendoline Christie as Captain Phasma, Andy Serkis as Supreme Leader Snoke and Max von Sydow as an unidentified character.

J.J. Abrams directs Star Wars: The Force Awakens from a script he co-wrote with Lawrence Kasdan. This epic adventure will be followed by the first spinoff, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, arriving on December 16, 2016. Star Wars: Episode VIII is up next on May 26, 2017, followed by Star Wars Anthology: Han Solo Movie on May 25, 2018 and Star Wars: Episode IX in 2019.
