Even after the Star Wars: The Force Awakens full cast was announced last year, just before production got started, Disney and LucasFilm didn't reveal anything about the new characters. As the months passed, the studios slowly started revealing tiny tidbits of information, and we eventually learned that the story centers on a trio of new heroes, Finn (John Boyega), Rey (Daisy Ridley) and Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac), although there is still much we don't know about their plight in this highly-anticipated sequel. John Boyega recently spoke with GQ, where he revealed that he cried after first reading the script for Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

"When I read the script I cried, and I'm not really a big crier... I'm more like a frog-in-the- throat kind of guy, who'll try to hold it in and make sure I don't let it all out. I was unleashed into seven months of auditions. It was like The X Factor but without the TV show around it. It was intense."

As we saw in the first teaser trailer, Finn is a Stormtrooper who goes AWOL, when he eventually meets up with Rey and Poe Dameron. We have seen a new poster where Finn is wielding a lightsaber, along with a special teaser that reveals he is the one squaring off with Kylo Ren in the now-infamous crossguard lightsaber scene from the original trailer. While there is still much we don't know about Finn's journey, the actor revealed that his story mirrors Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) and Han Solo (Harrison Ford).

"Finn is dope. His story is so epic. It's a story that's never been seen before, but it also mirrors the stories of Luke Skywalker and Han Solo. And he's quirky and charismatic and funny. For me, he was the best character in the script."

There are rumors that Finn undergoes training to become a Jedi in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, but new details revealed through a set of trading cards actually show that Rey is part of the Jedi Order and the Rebels, while Finn is designated only as one of the Rebels. Interestingly enough, we've seen Finn wield a lightsaber a few times, but we have yet to see Rey use this iconic weapon. When asked about using a lightsaber, John Boyega revealed they were heavier than he thought.

"They're heavy, those things, and there's a lot of running involved. I was trained on a high incline treadmill so when it came to it I could sprint around the desert in a leather jacket. They should do a Star Wars weight loss program."

Do you think Finn will be a Jedi by the time the credits roll on Star Wars: The Force Awakens? Why isn't he listed as a Jedi on these trading cards, and Rey is? Hopefully we'll get the answers to these questions when the third trailer debuts sometime this fall. We still haven't seen Mark Hamill's Luke Skywalker at all yet, so hopefully this trailer gives us our first look at this iconic character. Stay tuned for more details and the new trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
