When the smoke finally clears on December 18, will the tie-in holiday commercials for Star Wars: The Force Awakens prove to be just as entertaining as the movie itself? A few weeks ago, we got an epic Duracell commercial that showed two youngsters fighting the First Order on Christmas morning, with C-3PO and R2-D2 helping them to victory. Now, we get an amazing Verizon promo that looks like it was pulled directly out of the sci-fi sequel. And it teams up an old favorite with a new member of the Resistance.

Watch as Chewbacca and BB-8 infiltrate the Starkiller base. They are trying to download information, but their current data plan is slowing them down. If only they had Verizon, they could get the information they need at a faster rate. As BB-8 tries to complete his mission, Chewy holds off an army of angry First Order Stormtroopers intent on killing them both. While it might not be new footage, it's as exciting as any of the trailers or TV spots we've seen in the past couple of weeks.

Of course, it is being used to sell Verizon. As they explain it, Verizon's network doesn't slow you down. And the best way to explain that is with Chewbacca and BB-8 in a tight spot. In Star Wars: The Force Awakens, the galaxy is a dangerous place. Epic Battles. Remote worlds. Strange creatures. And deadly threats at each turn. A long time ago a group of heroes banded together to save the galaxy from an Evil Empire. A dark new threat promises to destroy everything they've fought for. Now it's time for a new generation of heroes. Rey, a scavenger searching for answers. And Finn, a rogue Stormtrooper looking for something to fight for. They team up with a mysterious droid named BB-8. These three must make a choice. Continue their journey alone. Or work together to defeat the dark side.

The cast includes John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Oscar Isaac, Adam Driver, Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Domhnall Gleeson, Lupita Nyong'o, Gwendoline Christie, Andy Serkis and Max von Sydow. J.J. Abrams directs Star Wars: The Force Awakens from a script he co-wrote with Lawrence Kasdan, with the director producing alongside Kathleen Kennedy and Bryan Burk. The trailer that debuted last month was supposed to be the final footage before the movie arrives in theaters in almost exactly one month. But since that time there has been an onslaught of TV related previews that continue to give us seconds of new footage.

This latest short certainly has us on the edge of our seat. And it is reminiscent of scenes from the original 1977 classic Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope. Chewbacca is once again confronted by the infamous MSE-series mouse droid. And they have an interaction that long-time fans will love. Take a look at this latest Star Wars: The Force Awakens commercial. We're in the home stretch now. Hopefully, not too many more spoilers will arrive. But we guarantee, this spot is spoiler free and can be enjoyed by all.
