There will be Star Wars: Episode VII spoilers throughout the rest of this story, so stop reading now if you don't want to know any more about the movie than you already do. That said, this latest bit of news is more a confirmation of things we've heard in the past than it is some startling revelation.

When news first broke that director J.J. Abrams and his team were eyeing Adam Driver as a main cast member, it was heavily rumored that he would be playing a villain on par with Darth Vader. Though the actor was later confirmed for a role, we still don't know who he is playing.

Actor Joel Edgerton has helped clear that up a bit. Talking with MTV about his latest release Felony, in theaters next week, Joel Edgerton let it slip that he knows more about the upcoming sequel than most people.

Not because he starred in Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith as Owen Lars, the Uncle of Jedi Luke Skywalker, but because Adam Driver was actually one of his co-stars in the upcoming drama Midnight Special. Joel Edgerton's first time on that set came only 24 hours after Adam Driver was cast in Star Wars: Episode VII.

"Adam Driver and I worked together on this Jeff Nichols movie last year. Literally, he got cast, and then I heard he was going to play new whatever version of the villain in the new 'Star Wars' movie,. The next day I had to do a scene with him after I read this. I said 'I'm scared to do this scene with you now because you might [Force choke me]," says Joel Edgerton.

This seems like a pretty good confirmation that Adam Driver is in fact playing the villain in Star Wars: Episode VII, but it doesn't answer why the actor was spotted wearing an X-Wing pilot uniform. Was he in disguise? We don't know.
