Before the release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, rumors had surfaced about a group known as the Knights of Ren, who we only saw briefly in the movie itself, during Rey's (Daisy Ridley) vision sequence. Very little is known about the Knights of Ren at this point, but we do know that they were assembled by Supreme Leader Snoke (Andy Serkis), who used them in conjunction with the military operations of the First Order. Today we have a new report which teases that the Knights of Ren may get to see some action in Star Wars: Episode VIII. There will be potential SPOILERS below, so read on at your own risk.

This report from Making Star Wars comes from a source at the Malin Head set, who describes a scene that most likely features the Knights of Ren. While the source couldn't absolutely confirm that these characters are in fact the Knights of Ren, their costumes were described as quite similar to the band of warriors last seen surrounding Kylo Ren. The actors spotted on set were wearing all black with helmets and weapons that looked similiar to the medieval knights. The scene in question takes place at Ahch-To, the planet where Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) is hiding in exile, which we saw at the very end of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. This particular moment has the Knights of Ren "going after" both Luke and Rey, but before this scene takes place, the source offers some insight into Rey's Jedi training.

The unidentified source claims that Rey has been tasked with killing Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) as part of her training. Although she is reluctant to do so, and becomes angry with Luke Skywalker because of this mission. The scene that follows is a showdown between Rey and Kylo Ren, which either hints that she has accepted her fate, or she's simply trying to defend herself. The source notes that Rey isn't wearing her vest, but is seen in a costume similar to the one she wears at the end of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, when she first meets Luke Skywalker. And she has her hair pulled back. The sun is starting to set, and it's begining to rain.

Kylo, who has discarded his now-iconic mask, is said to be wearing the same costume as seen in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, as he advances up the coastline with his Knights of Ren. Kylo and Rey end up getting in a duel on a cliff overlooking the nighttime water, while Luke Skywalker goes after the Knights of Ren on the beach. One Knight comes at Luke with an axe. The jedi master hurtles the dark warrior through the air with The Force, before igniting his green lightsaber, the same one he had in Return of the Jedi. This scene description claims that Luke easily takes out the Knights of Ren, but suddenly Rey is nowhere to be seen. The site doesn't know exactly what happens to Rey, but it's speculated that she's either injured or went off the side of the cliff. Kylo turns to face Luke Skywalker, but after seeing that his Knights of Ren have been defeated, he quickly retreats.

Another source claimed that a lot of wire work was used in this scene, and there were a lot of light flashing effects used throughout the battle. What isn't clear at this point is if Luke decided to let Kylo Ren go, since Rey must kill him as part of her training. The site also speculates that, based on Luke's behavior, he does not believe that Rey is dead, and that it's possible they may shoot a scene at Pinewood Studios with Rey hanging off this cliff. They also theorize that this location is the final Jedi ruin site that Luke and Rey need to visit. Naturally, none of this has been confirmed, so stay tuned for more on Star Wars: Episode VIII, which is set to hit theaters on December 15, 2017.
