Look out world, this could get quite controversial. But one Star Wars 9 star has decided that he wants his character to hook up with Jedi in training Rey as opposed to other romantic possibilities like Poe or Rose. And that's okay. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and this isn't coming from anywhere other than love for those two particular characters, so keep your outrage in check.

The Force Awakens was criticized by many fans for how similar it was to the very first Star Wars movie, A New Hope, but one of the main differences was there was not as much of a palpable romantic connection between any of the main characters like there was in A New Hope. While promoting his new movie Pacific Rim Uprising, John Boyega reveals that it seems those same fans who liked that there was no romance in the first movie, are now itching to see a romantic connection with Finn and either Rey (Daisy Ridley) or his "partner" in The Last Jedi, Rose (Kelly Marie Tran). And there has long been talk of Finn winding up in a gay romance with Poe. When asked who he'd personally like to see Finn end up with, John Boyega declined to comment on the often touted romance between Finn and X-Wing fighter Poe, leaving him completely out of the equation. Instead, he had this to say about a possible hook up with Rose or Rey.

"Because Finn is the one character, for me, who has a distinct, unique relationship with everybody. He had this kind of banterous relationship with Han, then he has this loving relationship with Rey. Now with Rose, it feels like he has this great relationship. Personally? Rey. Yeah, Rey."

Next year's Star Wars 9 will close out this new trilogy, and, naturally, there have been no plot details divulged thus far, although fans are chomping at the bit to see how writer-director J.J. Abrams closes out this trilogy. The director will be working from a script that he's co-writing with Chris Terrio (Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Argo). There has been no confirmation as to how far along Abrams and Terrio are on the script, and when Boyega was asked how much he knows about this upcoming movie, the actor revealed he doesn't know any more than anyone else. Here's what he had to say, revealing he plans on meeting up with J.J. Abrams very soon.

"I really don't know, but I'm going to try to meet him on my trip to L.A. before I head to China just for him to talk me through what his plans are, because I'm so intrigued to hear what he wants to do."

We also recently reported that Star Wars 9 may be the final Star Wars movie that John Williams provides the score for. The iconic composer provided the scores for the original trilogy, prequel trilogy, Star Wars: The Force Awakens and last year's Star Wars: The Last Jedi. He didn't provide the score for Rouge One: A Star Wars Story (Michael Giacchino) or the upcoming Solo: A Star Wars Story (John Powell), and while it would make sense for the legendary composer to "retire" from the franchise after Star Wars 9, there will likely still be legions of fans who would prefer him to score every Star Wars movie. LucasFilm has set a December 20, 2019 release date for Star Wars 9, which will go up against Universal's long-awaited musical adaptation Wicked. You can head on over to Slash Film to read more from their interview with John Boyega for the highly-anticipated Star Wars 9, which is expected to begin production sometime this year.
