With the first Star Wars spinoff, Star Wars Anthology: Rogue One, prepping to begin production this summer, we're finally starting to learn a little bit more about the story. Disney and LucasFilm released a brief plot synopsis in April, which revealed the movie centers on, "a band of resistance fighters unite for a daring mission to steal the Death Star plans." The growing cast includes Felicity Jones, Riz Ahmed, Sam Claflin, Diego Luna and Ben Mendelsohn, but no details about these characters have been revealed. Today we have an unconfirmed report that claims fans will see new aliens, droids, vehicles and much more.

The story is set in the "dark ages," between Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith and Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope, which is the same time frame when the animated TV series Star Wars Rebels takes place. The anthology film is said to be "darker and grittier" than any other Star Wars movie, and is described as an "old school war film" that is a cross between Hamburger Hill and Star Wars. All of the remaining Jedi knights are said to be in hiding during Star Wars Anthology: Rogue One.

The Stormtroopers will have the same armor as the original trilogy, and there will also be a number of aliens such as the Mon Calamari, along with never-before-seen aliens, droids and vehicles, although classic ships such as the At-Ats, X-Wings, Y-wings, At-Sts will be present. One of the new droids will be part of the rebels' mission to steal the Death Star plans, with Felicity Jones believed to be one of these rebel soldiers. Part of the story is believed to be set on Yavin-4, since there are scenes with armies in the jungle and numerous battlefield locations. Of course, none of the details above have been confirmed, and it isn't known when we'll get any verified plot information at this time. What do you think of these alleged plot points for Star Wars Anthology: Rogue One?
