Back in May, we reported that Ben Mendelsohn is set to play the villain in the highly-anticipated Star Wars Anthology: Rogue One, which is scheduled to start production sometime this summer at Pinewood Studios in London. While other cast members have signed on since then, it seems that Ben Mendelsohn still hasn't been confirmed to star. Here's what the Australian actor had to say in a new interview with Deadline.
"Well... I know that it's something that's being talked about. That's what I definitely know. I'm waiting for them to call me and say, 'Hey, here's the start date,' but you know, none of that's yet taken place, but you know I'd be very happy to do it, let's put it that way."
Other cast members include Felicity Jones, /star-wars-anthology-rogue-one-cast-forest-whitaker/Forest Whitaker, Diego Luna, Sam Claflin and Riz Ahmed. The story takes place between Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith and Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope, centering on a team of Rebel Alliance soldiers who embark on a mission to steal plans for the original Death Star. No character details were revealed regarding any of the cast members yet.
Gareth Edwards (Godzilla) is directing from a script originally written by Gary Whitta (After Earth) and rewritten by Chris Weitz (Cinderella). What do you think about these new details? Do you hope that Ben Mendelsohn will be confirmed as the villain soon? Let us know what you think below.
