Earlier this week, Disney announced that they will be releasing 20 Star Wars books this fall through various different publishing companies, leading up to the highly-anticipated theatrical debut of Star Wars: The Force Awakens on December 18. While a number of titles were confirmed in that report, today we have plot descriptions for five of these novels, all of which will be released on September 4. Some of these descriptions tease the debut of brand new characters, while dropping hints about where these are set within the Star Wars franchise timeline. This thrilling Young Adult novel gives readers a macro view of some of the most important events in the Star Wars universe, from the rise of the Rebellion to the fall of the Empire. Readers will experience these major moments through the eyes of two childhood friends-Ciena Ree and Thane Kyrell-who have grown up to become an Imperial officer and a Rebel pilot. While it isn't known if every one of the 20 books will feature "hints and clues" about Star Wars: The Force Awakens, it certainly could be a ploy that pays off both for Disney and fans aching to learn more about director J.J. Abrams' highly-anticipated adventure. The two new characters mentioned are both in Star Wars Lost Stars, Ciena Ree and Thane Kyrell, with an intriguing story about two lovers who ended up on opposite sides of the war. Since only a few character names for Star Wars: The Force Awakens have been confirmed, it's possible that Ciena Ree and Thane Kyrell may pop up on the movie, but that has yet to be confirmed.
