Jaxxon, the Lepi smuggler (or green rabbit), is making a return for the Star Wars Adventure comic series. The character first appeared in the comic books released in the 70s and 80s under the Marvel license. For many Star Wars fans, Jaxxon was a very odd addition to the franchise, but he only showed up in a handful of early issues. However, the Star Wars Adventure comic series is considered official canon. So, is Jaxxon an official character in the ongoing Star Wars universe? Short answer? Yup.

Marvel got back into publishing Star Wars comics again in 2015 after a 20-year break and for a fun variant cover, they put Jaxxon on Star Wars Number 1 as a wink to hardcore fans who were aware of his fighting alongside Han Solo in the early stories. Jaxxon hasn't been seen or heard from since 2015, but that's all about to change according to Star Wars Adventures publisher IDW's CCO and Editor-in-Chief Chris Ryall. Ryall had this to say.

"And if you want to (have) the feeling of '80s Star Wars comics with your kids, our Star Wars Adventures series is gonna feature an appearance by Jaxxon this spring."

Jaxxon took on a job from Han Solo in the original Marvel Comics series as a part of the Star-Hoppers of Aduba-3. The Star-Hoppers were a mercenary force given the job of defending the small village of Onacra. After the Star-Hoppers were finished protecting the community from Cloud-Riders, the group was then forced to battle the Behemoth from the World Below. Thanks to Han Solo's efforts, the giant monster was killed. As a result, Jaxxon was able to obtain the money that he needed to repair his ship. Jaxxon even got into some Luke Skywalker adventures later on in his short run.

It's not clear how Jaxxon will be utilized in the Star Wars Adventures comic series this spring, but Easter is right around the corner and the series is for all ages. Jaxxon might become the green galactic Easter Bunny for a few pages. Either that or he might team up with his old pal Han Solo for a new adventure. The possibilities are endless, especially in the Adventure comics, since just about anything goes.

For some, the news of Jaxxon's return is exciting and a piece of their childhood. For others, he really just does not fit in anywhere and is often cast off as the black sheep of the Star Wars universe. But who knows, he may be able to redeem himself in the new Star Wars Adventure comic or possibly Rian Johnson is working on a Jaxxon trilogy. Ok, that's definitely not happening, but he could very well make an appearance at some time in the near future. You can check out the confirmation of Jaxxon's return to the Star Wars universe below, from Chris Ryall's Twitter account.
