It looks like we may have some of the first details on Star Wars Celebration 2019. The celebration of all things Star Wars has been around since long before Disney purchased all of Lucasfilm in 2012, but it's always been a bit sporadic and hasn't ever totally committed to being an annual event. The last time it happened was last year in Orlando, Florida and it was a major year for news, as we got our first trailer for Star Wars: The Last Jedi and many other reveals. Disney decided to skip 2018, but they're bringing Star Wars Celebration back next year and it sounds like we'll have a familiar location, but during a different time of year.

According to a new rumor, Star Wars Celebration 2019 will take place in fall of next year in Anaheim, California. While specific dates haven't yet been revealed, this will run counter to previous years in which the event took place in the spring. This comes from fan site Star Wars News Net, so we should caution that is is just a rumor for now. However, the site has a pretty solid track record when it comes to rumors and reports such as these. Still, the information is coming from an unnamed source, so don't take this as gospel.

That said, this is a move that would make sense for several reasons. For one, Star Wars Celebration has taken place in Anaheim previously, so that's not at all surprising. But as for the fall change? That very likely could have to do with the fact that Disney will be getting ready to open up the Star Wars-themed expansion Galaxy's Edge at Disneyland next year around that time. Holding Star Wars Celebration at or around the time of the grand opening of Galaxy's Edge would be a major no-brainer for the company.

The Galaxy's Edge Star Wars expansion is also opening at Disney World in Florida, but Disneyland's will open first, which likely explains why the event will take place in Anaheim as opposed to Orlando. This would also provide Disney and Lucasfilm an opportunity to showcase a final trailer and a panel for Star Wars 9, which is set to arrive in theaters on December 20, 2019. While this is merely a rumor for right now, it would seem to make sense on paper.

Star Wars Celebration being held later in the year next year will also allow for more information on the upcoming Rian Johnson trilogy, as well as the series of movies from Game of Thrones creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss. Not to mention the live-action Star Wars TV series, a possible animated follow-up to Star Wars Rebels and possibly a new standalone movie, like the long-discussed Obi-Wan movie. We'll have to see if this rumor comes to fruition, but Star Wars Celebration is a massive event that takes a lot of planning and time to make happen, which means these big decisions are being made now behind the scenes. As for when we'll hear official word? That's up for the Mouse House to decide. This news comes to us courtesy of Star Wars News Net.
