It looks like Finn is going to be squaring off against another rad new class of Stormtrooper in Star Wars: Episode VIII. This time around, it sounds like the special Stormtrooper will be a little more formidable than the one Finn battled outside of Maz Kanata's palace known as TR-8R or FN-2199. Based on the name alone, The Executioner sounds like he (or she) could be a very memorable Stormtrooper when Episode VIII finally lands in theaters next year.

According to Making Star Wars this new Stormtrooper will have several factors that will distinguish it from other Stormtroopers seen on screen. For one, it will have a helmet that will consist of a black matte coating over half of it. Also, it's weapon will be similar to the one used by FN-2199 in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, but with a few changes. Here is how Making Star Wars describes the weapon and the trooper.

"The Executioner's weapon is not unlike FN-2199's at the handle but it has three spinning blades on the end that are said to be like something out of Phantasm (think of the crazy blades that come out of the spheres in those films). We think he has a shield but we haven't been able to confirm if he actually uses it in the film or not."

The report from the fan site also claims that, similar to the battle in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Finn will be doing battle with The Executioner in Star Wars: Episode VIII. The difference is, during his battle with FN-2199, Han Solo came to the rescue and blasted the imposing Stormtrooper away. That won't be the case this time around, being that *spoilers* Han Solo is dead. Making Star Wars also had a sketch made to show everyone what The Executioner could look like, though it is based on the rumors they have heard about the new Stormtrooper and nothing official, so it could change quite a bit.

FN-2199 was one of the standouts from Star Wars: The Force Awakens and even managed to get his own Hot Toys figure, as well as a backstory in the new official Star Wars canon. The original Star Wars trilogy had a few different classes of Stormtroopers, but based on what we saw in The Force Awakens and from what we have seen in the trailers and images from Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, there are going to be tons of new Stormtroopers in the new canon. Outside of FN-2199, Captain Phasma and the rumored Executioner, perhaps the most notable of these is the Death Troopers that are going to appear in Rogue One.

Right now very little is known about Rian Johnson's follow up to Star Wars: The Force Awakens. We haven't even been given an official title yet. Disney is clearly focusing heavily on Rogue One: A Star Wars Story right now, so it seems like we will likely be learning a lot more about Star Wars: Episode VIII after that movie hits theaters. Maybe we will even see a teaser before Rogue One? Better yet, maybe it will feature a tease for The Executioner. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story comes out on December 15 with Star Wars: Episode VIII slated for a December 16, 2017, release.
