When Star Wars: Episode VII was first announced last October, Walt Disney Pictures revealed they will release this highly-anticipated sequel in 2015. Since every Star Wars movie to date has been released in May, many assumed a May 2015 release would happen, but that may not be the case. Insiders are claiming that Disney is eyeing a mid-December release, possibly December 15, 2015, for Star Wars: Episode VII.

While the move would certainly break a longstanding tradition, it may be a wise choice given how populated the summer of 2015 already is, with The Avengers: Age of Ultron, Man of Steel 2, Terminator 5, Pirates of the Caribbean 5 and many more slated for release that summer.

In related news, actor David Prowse, who played Darth Vader in Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope, Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back and Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi, revealed in a recent interview he wants to return to play a new character in Star Wars: Episode VII.

"Unfortunately, Darth Vader was killed off. But it would be nice to come back and do another character, because no one's ever seen my face. I was never unmasked."
