AMC has released the fourth and final IMAX poster for its Star Wars Sundays campaign. This one features Finn and Kylo Ren as they face off in a lightsaber duel. The poster commemorates the epic final battle in the long-awaited sequel, which takes place outside the Star Killer base.
In October, as tickets were first going on pre-sale for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, AMC Theatres announced Star Wars Sundays. Fans who attend IMAX screenings at the theater chain have gotten to take home a different IMAX poster from Star Wars: The Force Awakens each Sunday between December 20 and January 10. This Sunday will bring this cool promotional incentive to a close.
In addition to this new poster, you can also check out the first three one-sheets released through AMC Theatres' Star Wars Sundays initiative. The first poster features Rey and BB-8 as they walk towards the Jakku sunset. The second poster features Poe Dameron and his X-Wing, as he watches other Resistance soldiers gear up for battle. The third poster, released this past Sunday, features Captain Phasma as she leads her First Order Troops on a fiery mission. We'll have to wait until Star Wars: Episode VIII hits in the summer of 2017 to see more of these posters released.
It was reported earlier today that Star Wars: The Force Awakens has taken in a worldwide box office haul of $1.536 billion, with $750.2 million domestic and $786.1 million from international markets. The tally was enough to propel the movie past Furious 7 ($1.515 billion) and Marvel's The Avengers ($1.519 billion) to become the fourth-highest grossing movie of all time globally. Star Wars: The Force Awakens now only trails Jurassic World ($1.669 billion), Titanic ($2.186 billion) and Avatar ($2.788 billion) on the all-time worldwide box office charts.
Can anything stop Star Wars: The Force Awakens? At the moment, it seems not, but the weekend of January 15 could be its biggest test yet. The blockbuster will go up against high-profile new releases 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi, Universal's Ride Along 2 and Lionsgate's animated comedy Norm of the North next weekend, and it will be the first weakend that the sequel doesn't have this AMC IMAX poster initiative working in its favor. Though, with one more still left to go this Sunday, its predicted that Star Wars: The Force Awakens will have no problem breaking the 4th week record. Take a look at all the posters which have been released for Star Wars Sundays. It looks like they definitely saved the best for last.
